Delivered well packaged & before due date. I didn't buy it for my personal use, but for my daughter who has 4 growing boys to feed, & always prepares their evening meal from scratch with fresh veg etc. She likes to cook & I thought this might be a help - I was right! I have to say I was impressed with design & finish when I took it from packaging, also with capacity & depth of ceramic insert. My girl is delighted as it feeds a family of 6 in one sitting, & provides double helpings. We both like that cook pot can be placed on the table & retains heat of contents throughout dinner. Cooks joints of meat perfectly too! It replaces her previous, smaller, slow cooker, so she notices every difference. The cooker also comes with a user advice booklet which also has some great recipes [2 of which I've tried & are really good]. I'm very pleased with this quality purchase, It's solid, well made & thoughtfully designed. If your'e a busy mum with a hungry family - it's ideal. [I got a 'best mum' award for buying it!]
Over the years, I've heard several people wax lyrical about how wonderful their slow cooker is. But I never personally saw the need for one because I've already got an oven and a roasting tin, and I'd never really been one for casseroles and stews or cooking over several hours when I could just buy a ready meal in a tinfoil tray and have it ready in 30 minutes.Well, all that's changed now. Since I bought this slow cooker, I cook in it as often as possible. I now slow cook beef joints over several hours and the end result is always far more succulent and full of flavour than anything that comes out of a roasting tin. Slow cooking a beef joint seems to magically cut down on the 'bad' (i.e. tough, chewy, flavourless) joints we get, simply because the act of slow cooking appears to rescue all but the most unfortunate cuts of meat. The slow cooker has also expanded my family's diet too. We now actually eat casseroles and stews with dumplings. Blasting a potato in the microwave oven is a thing of the past. With a bit of forethought and preparation in the morning (lightly oiling and seasoning the potato before wrapping it in tinfoil), I can have beautifully cooked jacket potatoes waiting for us all in the evening. And the smell – oh, it's divine to come home to your house smelling of a simmering stew, casserole or joint of beef. They say the first bite is with the eye, but long before that, the smell is what really gets you going.Clean up is easy too. Obviously, the sealed aluminium cooker/heating element part can only be wiped down, but the removable inner porcelain dish – the part your food simmers in – can be removed and left in soak before being given a good old scrub (or a half-hearted scrub and put into the dishwasher – my favourite method because I'm a lazy man).I'm not going to lie and say this slow cooker has changed my life. There will always be room for the convenience of junk food and tinfoil tray meals when the mood takes me. But it's certainly proved to be a worthwhile addition to the kitchen and I'm glad, as are my family, I bought it.
I've had this product since November 2017 ready for my house move in December 2017. I've cooked various different recipes in this slow cooker for around 4hrs each time. Last week I left it on low for 8hrs as I was cooking gammon and when I got back I was not happy when I saw that the front of the slow cooker I.E the ACTUAL TIMER HAS COME OFF THE FRONT! The lowest setting must have melted something inside and now it's hanging off. This is certainly a safety issue and I will be calling the manufacturer soon to discuss the issue.
