Very pleased with the iron. Easy to use and irons to a good standard. Especially good for dresses, tunics and shirts.
The last time we came across a handheld garment steamer we weren’t overly impressed. Aside from it not really generating a great deal of useable steam, it also leaked. This steamer by contrast has so far surpassed the fairly low bar our previous experience had set. There isn’t a great deal to it, as it only has one job to do, and that job is not intended to be for long stints at a time either, so the fact that it doesn’t hold much water is no surprise, and probably works in its favour by not being too cumbersome or unwieldy. It only really lasts for a couple of minutes on full chat, but it goes about its business in a decent way by not having to hold a trigger down, and by being fairly precise in how it projects its steam output. These two factors are what help make this device actually helpful as if you’re wanting to use a garment steamer then chances are you are probably time-poor and just want to get an item of clothing freshened up and de-creased with the least fuss, and you can check that box with this device from Morphy Richards.I’m going to give it a 5 because it actually does what it says on the tin, unlike the previous device we’ve used. Whether or not at c. £50 (at time of review) it is good value I can’t really be sure. There are certainly cheaper garment steamers on the market, mostly from random white label clone brands that maybe don’t have much (if any) pedigree in this area.
I have reviewed many handheld steamers over the years. I find them a real mix of quality or overpriced rubbish. This machine sits at the quality end of the spectrum if you need a garment steamer. Firstly, its made from quality materials. It is great for getting rid of creases from clothing after they have been hung up in a wardrobe. I have pure cotton shirts which crease, by just hanging them up. This unit gets rid of the creases, effortlessly. There are design issues with the unit, such as it holds only a small amount of water and every 3 shirts it needs to be re-filled. It becomes a bit of a pain to constantly fill it. It has a turbo button, which when pressed releases a great deal of steam. It is not the smallest unit I have ever seen, but it could still be put in a suitcase. Overall, this is a nice product which is useful and clever.Overall this is a nice unit, and I am happy to Recommend it.
