Currently fitting new wooden floors plus skirting boards, trim around windows and curtain rails (and doing the wife's job of shortening the curtains) and fed up with trying to stop my tape measure bending in the middle, coming unhooked, etc. If you have ever had to measure more than half a metre you will know what I mean !!Saw this little gadget on a deal and saw the accuracy of 1 mm and thought that's good enough for everything I want. In fact a lot better than I get trying to hold the tape straight. How right I was.My first thought after delivery was "It's a bit heavy". Turned out that was the manual. After the panic over a manual about 40mm thick. I then discovered it was in about 25 languages and the English was a few, not really needed, pages as its all a bit obvious. Just turn it on, point the laser and read the distance. Quick, easy and really accurate. A bonus is not having to write down or try to remember the measurement when I go into the garden to cut boards. Just read it off the display.OK, Once software gets involved all sorts of clever options are available such as area, volume, indirect (clever) measurements which are possible to work out without the manual but if all else fails and you are male, go somewhere private and look at the manual. I am just happy that I can take straight line measurements without needing my wife to hold the end of the tape. Oh and of course there is an "app'. I have downloaded it but not used it yet.The bottom line is that it's useful, accurate, easy to use and easy to keep in tool box. I probably would not have paid full price but now I have used it the full price is worth the expenditure. It does not replace my tape measure but its a really useful addition.I find the reviews of others help my buying decisions. This is one of these things that once you've got it, you realise you should have got one a long time ago. I'd considered the Leica, but couldn't stomach the price, and I've always had a good experience with blue Bosch things. It has a variety of useful features, which I find I can't remember how to work when I get on site, so I basically use it as a tape measure. It seems fantastically accurate - I'm usually measuring between 3 and 10m, and it agrees with my Stanley tapes over these distances to the millimeter. Compared to using a tape, measuring an 8m wide wall to find the centre is crazy fast and an absolute doddle with this. The little red laser dot is highly visible, and shows exactly where your measuring, which is a great help. For anything over 3m, this is now my go to measuring device.Battery life seems great, it's absolutely tiny so you can stick it in a coat pocket, and it's supplied with a nice quality nylon belt holster if you prefer that.
The hardware is great, takes a few seconds to turn on but once it's on it works quickly and the interface is reasonably intuitive but that's where the positives end. Transferring measurements via Bluetooth is very poorly designed and feels like an afterthought, despite that being the primary reason for my purchase. It takes almost as long to enter measurements with the tool via Bluetooth as it does to enter them by hand. The tool doesn't use open standards so you are stuck with super 90s software and poor UX.
