Used no more than half a dozen times in the two years owned to pick up leaves from the lawn. On its First use this year with the motor running full speed it suffered a catastrophic failure. A very loud bang like a gunshot and the plastic fan sheared from the spindle and smashed straight through the plastic caseing into my groin. The rather large pieces of plastic fan spread across my lawn along with pieces from the side of the caseing. Fortunately I was only bruised but the force of the fan pieces hitting me was significant. This failure suggests this item is a potential danger in normal use. Have been given a full refund within warranty by Amazon and reported the incident to them. Bosch and potential buyers should be made aware
As a lover of Bosch garden tools, I was looking forward to trying this highly rated product when my second Black and Decker GW3000 failed.I have a large garden and drive with several trees around it, so use the blower on a weekly basis and certainly much more often than the vacuum, mainly because my Bosh lawnmower is faster amd more efficient at vacuuming and mulching leaves., However, having just used my new blower/ vac for the first time I was left with mixed feelings...1. The main switch is out of reach of the handle, so you need to use both hands on the Bosh, whereas the Black and Decker was a simple flick of a thumb switch on the handle. Also, the switch is more substantial on the Bosch, but still turned itself off a few times during use.2. The Bosch is compact and much quieter than the Black and Decker. I am sure that my neighbours will appreciate that!3. The Bosch motor has a soft start which I prefer, but at 2500W, is noticeably less powerful than the 3000W Black and Decker and less effective at moving material or clearing a drive or lawn.4. The variable speed control on the Bosch does not make a great difference, whereas the Black and Decker has a full or half power switch at the touch out your thumb.5. The Bosh blower gives greater control when blowing around plants and pots, but the nozzle is curved and has a narrower orifice, so you have to contend with a backwards force when blowing. This is not a problem on the Black and Decker because the orifice is straight and wider.6. The Black and Decker blower incorporates a base so it can be put down heavily on hard surfaces, but the Bosch has a hard plastic, clip-on fan cover that also serves as a base, so could prove vulnerable to damage or cracking.7. The Bosch strap, should you choose to use it, is much better quality on the Bosch.8. The Bosch power lead is shorter than the Black and Decker, so I need to use an extra length of extension lead.9. I have not used the vac properly yet, but can say that changing over attachments is much easier on the Black and Decker. However, the Bosch has a far superior connection between the fan body and the collection bag, which was a great weakness of the Black and Decker. All in all, I am happy with the Bosh, but not nearly as impressed as I expected to be.Time will tell....
I’m very happy with this item, arrived on time and extremely easy to put it together. I didn’t even look at the instruction or manual, put it together less than 5 minutes and started using it. This as you know is a vacuum and blower, I mainly bought this for the vacuum function and it does exactly what I need it for, I was looking for something that is stronger than house hold vacuum cleaner that could be used to clean the front and back yards where some leaves are on the patios between pots and even old dry leaves between garden plants and it does an excellent job. When I was researching for such products I’ve see few people saying this is rubbish product and leaves jammed the machine! If you try to suck in wet leaves, of course it gets jammed. This is a compact small machine and in my opinion can only deal with small or dry leaves, I will not use this in autumn when everything is wet and plenty of them, for that you need to use the traditional raking way of collecting them. My top tip is if you could find the same sort of product cordless, go for that option as the cable is constantly on my way and it’s inconvenient that I have to keep plugging and unplugging it as I move around the yards.
